We are very sad to hear of the passing of Chester Bennington from Linkin Park by suicide. Whether you are a fan of their music or not, Linkin Park defined a generation of music for alternative youth many of which connected with their music through their own suffering and mental health issues. I never got to meet Chester but the friends of mine who have all said he was one of the nicest most caring people they had ever met.
When I made the first Soundwave Tattoo in April, we found out the next day that our dear friend Lisa had chosen to commit suicide. It’s unfortunate that we all probably know someone, or maybe a few people who have taken their own lives.
Far too many people, some of the most loving, caring, thoughtful people are suffering from things that can be healed through sharing our feelings with each other. By holding space and listening to our friends and family we support them in accepting, releasing and transmuting trauma and grief.
Every time each of us makes a decision to ask for help, we can stop our past from dictating our future and live empowered lives.
If you or anyone you know may be suffering and considering suicide PLEASE ask for help. There is always someone who will listen.
